HoWL Jr. is going to be just as epic as big kid HoWL trips just on a smaller scale.
* Topics will be finalized the week of camp to suit ages and skill levels. *
Some of our activities include:

Forest Floor Foraging: After a morning of games, we'll make our own lunch with wild edible plants! Supervised campfire and smokey goodness.

Animal Tracking: Channel your inner hunter as we identify tracks, trails and other animal sign to see what we can identify and if we can get photos!

Campfire Safety / Campfire Cuisine: Learn how to make, maintain and safely put out a fire. Learn how to keep the forest and surrounding areas protected from campfires. We will finish up with lessons in Leave No Trace campfire cleanup. (There will be extra adult supervision on this day!)

Beach Bash! Includes an epic rock skipping challenge,  sand castles and fortifications against the incoming tide.

Extreme First Aid: Mike has been missing in the wilderness for 3 days and no one can find him. It's Adventure Team HoWL's job to go in and locate him and treat his many wounds and ailments. (This will be led by our own Shannon Reid certified Wilderness First Responder and EMT.)

Treasure Hunt / Orienteering via GPS!  We have a course all set up. First team to check in at all the points and make it to the buried treasure wins! Map compass and GPS skills will all be covered in this adventure packed day!

Various peer leaders (14-16) will be aiding in group leadership and guidance.
There will be additional adults on hand for group activities and all days involving fire and pocket knives

DiRtBaG scholarship funds are available for this expedition. Please refer to our SCHOLARSHIPS page for more information.

As on all HoWL trips, health, safety, teamwork and leadership development and fun are key elements to the success of the trip. Lessons on all of the above will enrich the expedition during teachable moments. HoWL instructors have all the experience they need to keep everyone safe and having fun!
