Did you pass HoWL Hunter Education and receive your Alaska Hunter Education Card? Awesome! Let HoWL teach you the ins and outs of small game hunting, tracking, habitat analysis and put those skills you learned in Hunter ed. to real use. We will be going out with .22 caliber rifles and high powered pellet guns in search of late season spruce grouse or hare. There will be ONE firearm per team. Each team will have an experienced ADULT leader who will manage the firearm and who's turn it is. This will be a lot of fun but rules will be strictly enforced to ensure everyone's safety.
As weather conditions change daily during the winter months the location for this hunt is subject to change however some likely locations are: Anchor point state land access at the end of Grinner ave. Swanson Lake region, Tim ave. state land.
There will be an extensive safety briefing with all participants the morning of. HoWL reserves the right to have a parent come pick up any student who is behaving unsafely. No refunds will be offered if this occurs.
Please pack a lunch and dress weather appropriate.
As on all HoWL trips, health, safety, teamwork and leadership development and fun are key elements to the success of the trip. Lessons on all of the above will enrich the outing during teachable moments. HoWL instructors of course have all the experience they need to keep everyone safe.
DiRtBaG scholarship funds are available for this expedition. Please refer to our SCHOLARSHIPS page for more information.
