DiRtBaG Clean-Up Week

Every April, when the snow melts and reveals the litter on the sidewalks, forests, trails and beaches of Homer, HoWL DiRtBaGs clean it up. Local businesses and community members support the DiRtBaGs and HoWL need-based scholarships, through donations during Clean-Up Week.

During Clean-Up Week, HoWLers can also earn scholarships for their summer HoWL camps by collecting pledges for the trash they collect. If you’re a HoWLer that missed DiRtBaG Clean-Up Week, but still wants to earn a scholarship by picking up litter and stewarding the Homer community, then you can pick up supplies from HoWL to do your own clean-up!

DiRtBaG Scholarships rely upon the generosity of Homer’s local businesses and community members. Sponsor donations translates directly to both: a cleaner Homer and a youth getting to participate in a HoWL program. Thank you sponsors!

In 2025, 68 youth participated to collect 316 bags of trash and recycling around Homer!
