“Dirtbag” is a climbing term attributed to someone so dedicated to the sport of rock climbing that they will literally sleep in the dirt at the base of a wall just so they can get an alpine start on an epic climb in the morning. They wake up in their sleeping bags, dirty and ready to rock.
At HoWL, we always sleep in the dirt (well okay, usually in tents and sometimes on ice). But we recognize and celebrate young folks committed to pursuing their passion, regardless of the cost.
We offer DiRtBaG Scholarships based on leadership, teamwork and financial need so that every student who has the desire, also has the opportunity to participate in HoWL trips. Our annual DiRtBaG Clean-Up Week and DiRtBaG Service Days help support our scholarship fund, as do the generous donations of local businesses and individuals
Nice work DiRtBaGgers!
HoWL's 2017 clean-up was a remarkable success! More than 60 kids and dozens of volunteers participated in collecting 310 bags of trash and recycling off our roadways and beaches! In just one week!
Many thanks to our community sponsors !
