Testimonies
“HoWL is a portal to the wild of Alaska, the solitude and raw exposure of the ever-changing ecosystem, time tested and unaffected by what us silly little humans are doing. In this wilderness HoWL is a safety net to adventure, the twine connecting participant to experience. Everyone takes different things away from each HoWL expedition; I know what I’ve learned and I know that the lessons from the HoWL program are many, relevant, and ones that stick with you like the peaks summited or rivers rafted.” –Jesse Toubman, HoWLer since 2010, HoWL Instructor since 2012
“We have sent our son to howl for three years because it is off line, off the grid, and undoubtedly the best outdoor experience imaginable. Howl counselors teach leadership by modeling inclusion, teamwork, and authentic presence! Libby’s tireless committment to community and the environment is inspiring.” -Robin Guillian, HoWL mom since 2010
“Howl is the best camp in Alaska. It’s a great way to meet new people, make friends with the wilderness, and get outdoors! I have had such a great experience on each of the seven trips that I’ve been a part of!” –Zach Guillian, HoWLer since 2010
“From hiking tall mountains and glaciers to rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, and being prepared for all weather (and tsunamis!), HOWL makes my husband and I feel good about sending our kids out into great adventures. We know they are safe and we know they are having experiences that they will remember for a life time. We also love the educational team leaders on these trips. Our kids consider them not only mentors but friends.” –Rachel Livingston, HoWL mom since 2009
“In our fast-paced world, HoWL helps remind me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the natural world around me.” -Eivin Kilcher, HoWL instructor since 2009
“As a professional outdoors person, with over a decade of guiding hunters and fishermen in Alaska, I have been impressed by HoWL’s preparedness, attention to safety, and high quality of provided gear. I trust HoWL to teach participants good decision-making skills and instill a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship in our next generation of outdoors men and women,” –Dave Lyon, HoWL dad since 2012, Captain and Owner of Ashore Water Taxi
