Spring Fire and IceMonday and Friday, 3:30-5:30 (SOLD OUT)
April 4-May 1 Ages 9-12 $450 Join HoWL after school to learn wilderness skills and play in the woods. We will explore the Calvin and Coyle trail system, learn survival skills like fire building and shelter design, and enjoy fireside snacks on a Saturday day hike down to Diamond Creek. You’ll get a chance to put your skills to use on a weekend overnight expedition to Grewingk Glacier Lake where ice bergs and boulders await. |

Edible HarvestMay 24-26 (SOLD OUT)
Ages 11-13 $300 Discover delicious foods that grow in the wild spaces of Homer! This three-day expedition focuses on survival skills, like shelter building and plant identification. Learn how wild plants can bring backcountry meals to the next level! Along with food, Homer’s coast offers strange critters, beautiful sunsets, and awesome mountain views. |
Kachemak CrackJune 22-25 (SOLD OUT)
Ages 13+ $450 Join HoWL for the best of beach base camping at Kachemak Crack! Learn how to rock climb or practice your technique on the Salty Dawg route. If you’re not on the rocks, try bouldering around the sea cave, hop on a paddleboard, or develop your fire building skills! Get ready to challenge yourself and have a blast. |
The WozJuly 9-13 (SOLD OUT)
Ages 14+ $750 Fly in on a bush plane to the remote Wosnesenski (Woz) Lake, at the toe of the Woz Glacier. Rock climb on the cliffs surrounding camp and explore up-valley to the glacier toe. If the river braids are in our favor, we'll hike on the blue ice and the medial moraine of the glacier for a one-of-a-kind Alaskan experience. |
Summer Fire and IceJuly 25-29 (SOLD OUT)
Ages 10-13 $450 Explore local trails and learn skills that are essential for having adventures in the Alaskan wilderness. Camping is better when you can light a warm fire and avoid being eaten by a bear. Practice your skills on an overnight expedition to Grewingk Glacier Lake. Grewingk Lake features an epic Capture the Flag court and ice bergs thrones (if you can brave the swim). |
Tutka PaddleAugust 6-8 (SOLD OUT)
Ages 12+ $450 Travelling by kayak means endless exploration opportunities in Tutka Bay. We can paddle to a destination, check out nearby coves, or hike in mossy forests. Learn paddle strokes and how to stay safe on the water. Kayaking skills open up new adventures across Kachemak Bay and Tutka is an incredible place to start! |
HoWL Instructor TrainingJune 6-10
by invitation only Experienced outdoor educators and aspiring volunteers will spend five days learning HoWL's unique teaching methodology while scouting glacial changes at the head of the Wosnesenski River. We'll practice remote risk management scenarios and discuss topics in the outdoor industry while we interact with the flora, fauna and topography of the Wosnesenski Glacier Valley. |
